Partner Courtney Ervin Discusses Gender Bias On Keep It Legal Podcast

Hicks Thomas partner Courtney E. Ervin offered her insights on gender roles and achieving professional and personal success in today’s legal market on the Keep It Legal podcast for its Women’s History Month episode.The podcast offered insights on how to respond to unconscious bias in the legal profession based on some of Ms. Ervin’s personal experiences. She encourages listeners who end up on the receiving end of unconscious bias to respectfully shine a light on those mistakes.She also offered tips on how to be flexible in defining “work-life balance” over a career and a lifetime. Ms. Ervin shared details of her own family dynamic, describing how she and her husband are breaking traditional gender roles with him being a stay-at-home father while she serves as the primary breadwinner for the family.

“The most important thing for lawyers trying to do what I have done is being available for the people who need you most, when they need you most,” Ms. Ervin told the Keep It Legal podcast.
