Seven from Hicks Thomas Earn Selection to 2014 Texas Super Lawyers List

HOUSTON – Seven Houston attorneys from the Texas commercial litigation firm Hicks Thomas LLP have been selected to the 2014 Texas Super Lawyers list, which recognizes the state’s leading counsel. Name partners Taylor M. Hicks and John B. Thomas along with Stewart Hoffer, Gregg C. Laswell, Stephen M. Loftin and Allen H. Rustay were honored for their business litigation expertise. Senior counsel J. Stephen Barrick was recognized for his appellate work.
Hicks Thomas specializes in complex commercial litigation in a variety of industries including oil and gas, environmental, medical, banking, insurance, securities and trade secrets. Earlier this year, the firm was recognized for winning one of the state’s top 25 verdicts, a case that was the second-largest jury award in a medical malpractice claim in 2013.
Mr. Hicks, Mr. Thomas and Mr. Hoffer have earned spots on the Texas Super Lawyers list each year since its inception in 2003. This is Mr. Loftin’s ninth appearance on the list and the seventh for Mr. Laswell. Mr. Rustay and Mr. Barrick are making their third appearance on the list after being honored multiple years in the Super Lawyers companion publication Texas Rising Stars, which recognizes younger attorneys.
Super Lawyers is a patented rating service that involves peer nominations and careful research with final review by a blue-ribbon panel in each practice area. The final list represents no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state.
